Botswana needs to spend US$746 million a year for a decade to catch-up with the rest of the developing world

 
Botswana’s needs at 7 %GDP among lowest of the region
 
Botswana is already spending US$390 million a year much of it coming from domestic sources
 
There is an ‘efficiency gap’ worth US$71 million a year
 
After taking care of inefficiencies, a funding gap of US$336 million a year remains
 
Infrastructure’s contribution to growth high with power holding back the economy
 
Transport logistics bring a large potential for increasing productivity
 
Botswana fares very well on railways and airport services
 
GSM coverage already high and can benefit of further private participation
 
Water biggest problem but analys is challenged by information availability
 
Botswana is a good story for infrastructure sector expansion but power remains of huge concern. Efficiency analysis limited by access to information
